At Devco we are committed to ensuring our customers’ satisfaction through timely production and delivery of orders as well as respecting health and safety boundaries. Our company is still in operation and here to serve you. As a company dedicated to providing safety programs and initiatives, we realize the need for factual information and precautions. As COVID-19 continues it is important to find reliable sources and fact-check information. Be aware of scams and false information. Reliable sources and up-to-date information can be found from the World Health Organization (https://www.who.int/), Government of Canada (https://www.canada.ca/home.html), and Alberta Health Services (https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/). Listen and follow precautions set in place from government officials to ensure the health and safety of as many people as possible. We are all in this together and have a shared responsibility to protect each other. The importance of the rules and precautions set by our government comes through to ‘flatten the curve’ of potential cases. Self-Isolation measures and limiting time spent outside of home and work (if needed) can seriously contribute to stopping the spread of COVID-19. It may take up to 14 days for individuals to show any symptoms, meaning that it can be spread without knowing you even have it. Along with symptoms possibly taking up to 14 days to show, some people do not experience symptoms at all but are carriers of COVID-19 and can spread it without ever being sick themselves. Symptoms include fever, cough, and difficulty breathing. Fatal sickness is more common in the elderly and people with pre-existing conditions. Even if you are not at high risk for sickness, you have the responsibility to protect others from the spread.
Myths versus Facts about COVID-19
Myth: Antibiotics can be used to treat the Coronavirus.
Fact: Antibiotics do not prevent or treat COVID-19 as it is a virus. Antibiotics are used to treat or prevent some bacterial infections. Antibiotics may be given if you have COVID-19 due to possible bacterial co-infection.
Myth: Medications are available to treat the Coronavirus / The regular flu shot will help protect against COVID-19.
Fact: As of now there are no medications or vaccines currently available to prevent or treat COVID-19. However, treatments are currently being researched.
Myth: Wearing a mask will protect from the Coronavirus.
Fact: The World Health Organization has recommended masks should only be worn by those who are already sick or who will be in close contact with someone who is sick. Masks should be kept for people who need them as there is a world-wide shortage. Disposable face masks should only be worn once and only protect against large particle droplets; this leaves small particles from coughs or sneezes available to travel through the mask.
We have set precautions in place to protect our staff, vendors, and customers – limiting traffic inside the building to workers only, disinfecting commonly touched surfaces and communal areas twice a day, limiting time departments are in each other’s work areas, and having safe practices within shipping and receiving of outside products. We strongly advise everyone to self-isolate at the advice of our government and medical workers. Be respectful of everyone and surroundings – remember, just because you may not have symptoms does not mean you can’t spread it to those who are vulnerable. Reach out either through a phone call or online to loved ones, we are not alone in this. We hope everyone stays safe and healthy.
